What Are Cane Corsos Known For?

  Introduction The Cane Corso is a large, powerful breed of guard dog that originates from Italy. The name means “protector” in Italian, and these impressive canines are well-known for their loyalty and fierce protective instinct. They have an intimidating appearance which often deters any would-be intruders or danger before it even has the chance to approach. In addition to being guardians, they are also extremely intelligent and easy to train; they make great family pets as long as they are given the right kind of training, socialization and exercise. History The Cane Corso is said to be descended from ancient Roman Molosser dogs—large war dogs used by the Roman army—and was bred mainly for guarding property in rural Italy during Medieval times. These formidable dogs were later used by peasant farmers working large estates in Southern Italy where their size allowed them to tackle wild boar quickly and efficiently while still protecting livestock from predators such as wolves.
